When to Book Newborn Photos in Tulsa?

If you’re expecting a baby and wondering when to schedule newborn pictures, my recommendation is to book during your second trimester. Your third trimester is okay too, but the earlier you reach out, the better!

As a Tulsa newborn photographer with over 12 years of experience, I’ve learned that having your newborn session planned before baby arrives makes those first few weeks a whole lot easier.

After all, the last thing you want to worry about when you’re running on little sleep and figuring out life with a newborn is finding a photographer!

Why Should You Book Newborn Photos Before Baby Arrives?

I know your pregnancy to-do list is probably already a mile long. Between baby showers, nursery decorating, doctor’s appointments, and figuring out which stroller you actually need, booking newborn pictures might not seem like a priority.

But here’s why I recommend planning ahead.

Newborn sessions take time, patience, and plenty of flexibility. Because of that, I only take a limited number of newborn sessions each month.

Booking during your second trimester helps ensure there’s room on my calendar around your due date.

And once you’ve reserved your session, you can check one more thing off that never-ending baby list!

What If My Baby Arrives Early or Late?

Babies aren’t exactly known for sticking to a schedule!

When you book your newborn session with me, I reserve space on my calendar based on your due date. Once your little one arrives, we’ll choose the actual session date.

So whether your baby makes an early appearance or decides to get a little too comfortable in there, there’s no need to stress about having an exact date picked out months ahead of time.

That’s one less thing you have to worry about during those first few weeks!

When Is the Best Age for Newborn Pictures?

I prefer to photograph newborns within their first 14 days.

During those early days, babies are often sleepier, curl up more naturally, and are usually easier to settle into those sweet newborn poses.

But what if your baby is already older than two weeks?

Don’t panic! I can absolutely photograph older newborns, too. We may need to adjust some poses depending on your baby’s age and comfort, but we can still capture beautiful pictures of your little one.

Every baby is different, and I always follow your baby’s lead. Their comfort and safety come first.

What Happens After I Book My Newborn Session?

Once you’ve reserved your spot, I’ll help you prepare for your session so you’re not left wondering what to bring or what to expect.

My studio has the wraps, outfits, props, and little details we need to create beautiful newborn portraits.

And you don’t have to worry about your baby being perfectly sleepy or cooperative. We take breaks for feeding, changing, and snuggling whenever they’re needed.

My goal is for you to walk into your session knowing I’ve got the photography part handled. You just get to enjoy your baby.

What If I Want More Than Traditional Newborn Pictures?

Those first few weeks are the beginning of a story you’ll be telling for years.

Along with traditional newborn portraits, I offer personalized Storybook Sessions that turn your baby’s photographs into a beautifully printed keepsake book.

Each book includes a custom-written story celebrating your little one’s first chapter.

It’s something you can pull off the shelf and read together long after those tiny newborn days have passed.
