The 5 Stages of Pregnancy You Didn’t Know Existed. If you’re looking for pregnancy resources in Owasso, this guide will be invaluable for understanding the 5 stages of pregnancy.
Did you know there are more than the typical 3 trimesters of pregnancy? Today I’m spilling the tea on everything you can expect from conception to the mysterious “4th trimester. I had no idea there was a “4th trimester” until after I’d had 2 and was done having babies! I’m so glad I know now.
I’m not only going to share with you what to expect in each, but also a lot of local resources you can use as you plan for your pregnancy, newborn and birth in Owasso. The 5 stages of pregnancy are fascinating and varied.
The first trimester is like a secret club where only you and your growing baby are members. During these first 12 weeks, your body is working overtime to create a new life, and you might be feeling the effects (hello, morning sickness). It’s like you’re part of an exclusive group that only fellow expectant moms can truly understand.
Fortunately, I was one of the lucky ones that didn’t have the morning sickness. I would feel nauseous in waves but was never actually sick. My biggest struggle was the exhaustion! Add to it that I was an elementary teacher and I would be surprised if my students learned anything that year. lol!
For many, the second trimester is the golden age of pregnancy, where you can finally start enjoying the journey. With the nausea subsiding and the baby bump showing, it’s time to embrace the experience. This was such a fun time for me. I loved being able to start feeling the little flutters. That’s when I felt like I had a secret little friend that no one else got to experience.
One of the best things about this time (if you choose to wait) is sharing the big news! Recently one of my clients shared their news with a photo session of her kids holding the ultrasound pictures and showing off how excited they were. It turned out adorable!
The hardest part about this time can be the expanding belly and fitting into your clothes. Luckily, these days you don’t even have to leave home to find clothes. Amazon has some amazing clothes that will fit for quite awhile, and they aren’t even maternity. Just think maxi dresses, loose fitting shirts, and pants with elastic waists. I also had a lot of luck at Old Navy.
The third trimester is when things start to get real. As you prepare for your baby’s arrival, you’ll want to make sure you have everything in place for a smooth transition. Understanding the 5 stages of pregnancy will help you prepare better.
The Nursery
When it comes to the nursery, some of my clients go all out and are prepared months in advance, and some have 6 month olds without a nursery. Please don’t feel like it has to be perfect for baby…they won’t know either way. Make sure it is a place where you feel good and are comfortable. After all, you will be spending a lot of time in there.
Owasso birth class
Taking a birthing class is one thing I didn’t do and I so wish I had. The Pregnancy Resource Center of Owasso is an amazing place that is there not only to educate you of the process, but to be there for you after baby is born. I promise you that no matter how prepared you are, you will have a lot of questions once baby is here, especially as you progress through the 5 stages of pregnancy.
The moment you’ve been waiting for is finally here: birth! Whether you’re planning a natural birth or a C-section, this stage is exciting and emotional!
Every mom has their own birth story so please don’t think just because your cousin had a bad experience, that you will too. I have had moms who did natural birth and made it look like a breeze and also those who had to have c-sections. The main focus should be on making sure baby arrives safely. I was induced with both of my babies, and although many don’t like the induction process, I loved it. Both of my babies came very quickly! The one thing I remember is when my water broke. I truly felt like it was never going to stop and I was going to float away. lol

Of course, these are moments you’ll always want to remember (even if things don’t go perfectly according to plan). Hiring a birth photographer is something I’ve never heard anyone say they regret! I would love to help you with birth photography! To contact me for details click here.
Surprise! Your journey doesn’t end with birth. The 4th trimester is the first three months of your baby’s life, where both of you are adjusting to the world outside the womb. This is one of the 5 stages of pregnancy that many overlook.
This time is a whirlwind time in your life where it seems like the sleepless nights will never end. You will be tired, but remember that this time does not last forever. Please take care of yourself. Rest when you need it, even if the house is a mess, let yourself rest.
Of course, every journey is unique, and it’s okay to feel a whole range of emotions along the way. As long as you’ve got your support system and resources, you’ll be able to navigate this crazy adventure.
